Oliver Cox, fitness trainer at Bannatyne Health Club, is here to show you a great workout to get those core muscles nice and strong. Core isn’t just about your abdominal muscles, it’s also muscles in your back and sides. Core is suitable for everybody and helps us with even the most basic physical tasks including lifting, reaching for things and bending/twisting. As many of us are siting down at the office and during commutes, our core muscles deteriorate so the best way to get them rock solid again is following Oliver’s workout.
Russian twists – With the help of battle ropes, this exercise works out your abdomen, obliques and lower back muscles. This also helps with your balance.
Overhead squat – Choose a comfortable kettlebell, alternate it between your hands and go for a squat. This great exercise helps work your obliques, shoulders and balance.
Mountain climbers – A full body workout that challenges your deltoids, biceps, triceps, chest, obliques, abdominals, quads, hamstrings and hip abductors.
Plank walk outs – No need for equipment, this will just obliterate your abs. Not hard enough? Just add in a push up in the middle.
